About The Klipsch RP-6000F II Floorstanding Speakers

Take your home theatre experience higher with the Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-6000F floor-standing speaker. The Reference Premiere Series builds on the acoustics and technologies of Klipsch's classic Reference Series, with important enhancements that provide an even more intense listening experience.

This affordably-priced floor-standing model is the penultimate in Klipsch's Reference Premiere Series. They boast dual 165mm (6.5") woofers for powerful bass and warm, clear mids, plus Klipsch's signature 25mm (1") titanium dome horn tweeter for crisp, extended, highs. Klipsch makes its cones out of specially treated aluminium that's strong yet lightweight to dampen and prevent distortion. With the Reference Premiere Series, Klipsch also gave these woofers a newly developed titanium voice coil former that allows more linear movement for enhanced efficiency, lower distortion, and extended low frequency response. Look around the back, and you'll see that instead of the conventional round port tube found on many speakers, Klipsch uses a Tractrix horn-shaped opening for smoother, more efficient airflow in and out of the cabinet. The resulting decrease in air turbulence makes for cleaner, more powerful bass with reduced port noise and low-frequency distortion. They can handle up to 125 Watts RMS and 500 Watts of peak power.

Klipsch RP-6000F II Floorstanding Speakers

90° X 90° Silicon Composite Hybrid Tractrix Horn: Horn loading maximizes efficiently and increases detail while focusing high frequencies towards the listening area. Proprietary Tractrix® geometry provides the most efficient transfer of high frequency waves into the listening area. The phase plug and compressed moulded silicon face ensure smooth frequency response. When combined, the cleanest, most natural sound possible is created. The second generation increases horn size for a larger soundstage and enhanced directivity.

Linear Travel Suspension (LTS) Titanium Diaphragm Tweeter: The exclusive Linear Travel Suspension minimizes distortion for enhanced, detailed performance. LTS tweeters are a hallmark of previous Reference lines, making it a core component of some of the best speakers in the world.

Vented Tweeter Design: The vented tweeter housing reduces standing waves that create unwanted harmonics, resulting in enhanced detail and clarity in high frequency reproduction.

Cerametallic Woofers – All New Design: A signature feature on the Reference Premiere series, Cerametallic™ woofers are exceptionally rigid and lightweight for minimal distortion and maximum efficiency. New voice coils are 70% larger in diameter resulting in improved power handling and greater cone control for greater linearity and flawless reproduction. New aluminium shorting rings reduce distortion as well as increase power handling and the new motor structure improve transit response with more control with greater speed and accuracy.

Tractrix Ports: Utilizing Tractrix geometry, the Reference Premiere ports allow for the most efficient, fastest air transfer from the cabinet, which reduces port noise for punchier low frequencies. Klipsch Tractrix ports have custom designed inner flares that help reduce air turbulence entering the port. Less turbulent air helps reduce port noise for cleaner, more powerful bass.

Bi-Wiring / Bi-Amping Capability: Dual input terminals for bi-wiring / bi-amping capabilities. Bi-wiring separates high and low frequency current into separate speaker cables, reducing intermodulation distortion, for clearer midrange. Bi-amping allows for customization using outboard crossovers when using separate amplifiers.

Advanced Cabinet Design: Additional bracing and a divided cabinet have been added to minimize cabinet resonances and vibration, for the utmost transparency and clarity.

Refined Atmos Connections: Upgrading to Dolby Atmos is extremely easy with the simple and hidden connections located on the back of the speakers. These refined connections reduce the amount of wire seen and hold them in place for better wire management.

New & Improved Input Panel: Featuring audiophile-grade wire and easily accessible aluminium binding posts for any connection type.

Furniture Grade Materials & Finishes: Finishes include ebony vinyl and walnut vinyl that boast satin painted baffles with a scratch resistant finish.

Cast Aluminium Feet: Provides a more modern look with less resonance than MDF or ABS plastic. It is mechanically designed to minimize surface area in contact with floor, decoupling the speaker for faster, tighter low frequencies and more detail.

Strong, Flexible, Removable Grille: Attaches magnetically for an elegant transition from powerful showstopper to discrete performance piece.

About Klipsch

Not many manufacturers can boast that they have been producing speakers for over 50 years, make the best selling speaker in the United States and in 1997 have their founder inducted into the Engineering and Science Hall of Fame, an honour shared by Thomas Edison, George Washington Carver and the Wright brothers! The Engineering and Science Hall of Fame recognizes those who have improved the quality of the human condition through an individual contribution using engineering and scientific principles. Klipsch can claim all of the above! But who was Mr. Klipsch or PWK to his friends?

Paul Wilbur Klipsch (PWK) was an American audio pioneer, a true eccentric and a proud member of the engineering and science hall of fame. He gave rise to speaker technologies that would forever impact generations of music lovers. It all started in a tiny tin shed in Hope, Arkansas way back in 1946  when PWK, genius, madman and maverick, designed and hand-built the legendary Klipschorn® speaker with the goal of bringing live music into his living room. In the understatement of the century, we'd say he succeeded. The tin shed is now a full-fledged factory with its own cabinet production line and the company’s headquarters have moved to Indianapolis, Indiana; however, the mission remains to create the world's best speakers.

PWK received a patent on his loudspeaker design in 1945, registered the name Klipsch & Associates in 1946 and began making each loudspeaker with his own two hands until he hired his first employee in 1948. Paul believed in four principles that continue to drive the design of every new Klipsch speaker, today and hopefully tomorrow. High Efficiency: Klipsch utilizes horn-loaded technology in each of its speaker categories, minus headphones and subwoofers, because the horn shape results in accurate and dynamic sound transmission. Low Distortion: Klipsch horn technology reproduces the softest sounds with remarkable clarity and detail and the loudest sounds with no harshness or distortion. Controlled Directivity: Klipsch horn technology assists in accurately directing sound, which, in turn, creates a more lifelike soundstage. Flat Frequency Response: These stunningly accurate speakers offer no unnatural highs, mids or lows, delivering sound as the artist intended.

Our Take On The Klipsch RP-6000F II Speakers

Klipsch speakers deliver a dynamic and fast sound which is nothing less than impressive on movies. Bi-amped they "rock" even more. Add a good sub from either Klipsch or SVS and you have more than enough foundation shaking bass to "tick off the neighbours."

But there is another big story to tell and that is the subject of sensitivity or speaker efficiency. Most speakers are about 90dB efficiency and in stereo mode and with a modest approach to the volume control does not present any problem for any good amplifier or home theatre receiver. However as surround sound has increased from 5 speakers up to 9 or even 11, so has the demand on the amplifier or home theatre receiver. Combine more speakers with more volume and average efficiency speakers (say 90dB) and your amplifier will run quite hot and go into clipping - a type of distortion. One solution is to add an extra power amplifier to hook up the front two or three speakers. Another solution is to invest in a pair of speakers like the Klipsch RP-6000F II. These speakers are a very efficient 96dB, which means you can easily run them with half the power of most other speakers. One of the higher spec receivers will usually do the job beautifully and run nice and 'cool' even at high output levels. Speak with us to get more details or phone in and arrange a demo.
