Rega Apheta 3 Moving Coil MC Turntable Cartridge: Rega has been honing its distinctive moving coil cartridge designs for almost 15 years. Using a special rhomboid pivot for the cantilever powered by a specially designed, exclusive to Rega, Neodymium magnet system, Rega's Moving Coil cartridge design is unique in its approach to manufacturing an ultra-low mass generator that is undamped (no tie wire). The Apheta 3 cartridge bodies are machined from a single piece of the finest aluminum, and this kind of design calls for a zero-tolerance designed cartridge body—Rega's specialty. Rega's years of knowledge are needed to accomplish this task, which is costly and challenging. The alignment and dimension of the pivot pad mounting hole and the relationship between the magnet mechanism mounting hole necessitate the body to have "zero" tolerancing.
