Rega Aphelion 2 Moving Coil MC Phono Cartridge: The fourth iteration of our distinctive handcrafted moving coil cartridges is called Aphelion 2. Our engineers have now refined every element of the original designs, taking the technology from the first Aphelion and the most recent Apheta 3 to new heights.
MODEL 10 is the new reference in amplifier design. Featuring a newly designed dual-mono symmetrical amplifier topology, it is the most powerful, highest performing Marantz amplifier ever.
With a specially built, proprietary Neodymium magnet system powering the cantilever, Rega's Moving Coil cartridge design employs a rhomboid pivot to achieve an ultra-low mass generator that is undamped (no tie wire). Rega specializes in zero-tolerance designed cartridge bodies, which are necessary for this kind of design. The Aphelion 2 allows Rega to mill these bodies from a single piece of the finest aluminum. Rega's years of experience are needed to accomplish this challenging and costly task. The pivot pad mounting hole alignment and dimension, as well as the relationship between the mounting holes of the magnet mechanism, specifically need for "zero" tolerancing of the body.
