Musical Fidelity M8XTT Belt Drive - No Tonearm Turntable

Indulge in the exquisite sophistication of the M8xTT, a pinnacle of turntable engineering that builds upon the legacy of its renowned predecessor with audacious concepts and groundbreaking innovations.

M8xTT - Overview

Antony Michaelson envisioned music as grand, rich, and powerful, yet nuanced in its tonal colours. His amplifier creations embody this unique sonic character, offering a rare expression of his musical ideals. In 2002, Antony enlisted Mr. Lichtenegger's expertise to design an amplifier that embodied these qualities while maintaining a visually stunning aesthetic. The result was the Musical Fidelity M1, which garnered significant acclaim. The design philosophy focused on combining the mass of metal alloys with non-resonant acrylic to minimise vibrations. The motor was meticulously isolated from the tonearm and platter through a dual chassis construction. The new M8xTT continues these design principles while introducing even more advanced technical features.

The Tonearm

The 10-inch tonearm represents a brand-new, ultra-low resonance design by Musical Fidelity. It features a transparent acrylic bearing ring and a conical aluminium tonearm tube, ensuring optimal performance. The tonearm offers full vertical tracking angle (VTA) and azimuth adjustment capabilities and comes with two counterweights to accommodate cartridges weighing between 6 to 20 grams. These counterweights are damped with TPE to minimise resonances. Additionally, the tonearm is equipped with standard phono RCA outputs and balanced XLR sockets, providing ultimate flexibility in selecting your phono preamplifier.

The Motor & Platter

The motor is isolated on a special foam within the lower level acrylic plinth to separate it from the platter and tonearm. With electronic speed control, you can easily switch between 33 and 45 RPM. Connecting the motor to the two-floor TPE damped platter is a silicon belt, enhancing the flywheel effect. The platter itself is constructed from aluminium and features additional inserts for improved performance.

The Feet

Imagine four heavyweight TPE damped aluminium feet, each exuding an air of sophistication and strength. These feet, strategically positioned with magnetic support, bridge the two acrylic plinths, creating a seamless connection. Nestled between these plinths are teflon spacers, ensuring stability and precision in every movement. To fine-tune your setup, simply adjust the height of these feet by turning the riffled middle part, allowing you to achieve the perfect level for your turntable.

In The Box

In the box, you'll discover a heavyweight full aluminium puck designed to stabilise your records during playback, ensuring optimal tracking performance. Additionally, a leather turntable mat is provided, offering a superior surface for your vinyl records. This mat not only reduces noise but also adds a unique sonic quality to your listening experience. For seamless connectivity to your preamplifier, a semi-balanced phono interconnect cable with gold-plated connectors is also included.
