Furman’s SMP surge suppression eliminates the need for service calls. Unlike traditional surge suppressors, which degrade after multiple voltage spikes and require system dismantling for repair, SMP absorbs, clamps, and dissipates damaging transients without sacrificing components. Furman SMP offers superior clamping voltage protection, surpassing the rigorous standards of USA/CIDA’s A-1-1 test. While other systems clamp at voltages above 300VAC peak, Furman’s SMP clamping occurs at 376VAC peak and 266VAC RMS, even under extreme 6000VAC, 3000 Amp surge conditions. This exceptional level of protection is unique to Furman.
Traditional AC filters and conditioners often fail to improve audio and video performance, and can even degrade it due to outdated, non-linear designs that cause resonant peaking. Under certain conditions, these designs can introduce over 10 dB of noise to the incoming AC line. Furthermore, excessive voltage spikes and AC noise can lead to lost digital data, system reboots, or damaged digital converters. Furman’s LiFT, combined with SMP, provides a better solution, using linear filtering to ensure optimal performance and preventing any leakage to ground.
E.V.S. (Extreme Voltage Shutdown)
Furman’s reliable overvoltage protection circuitry automatically shuts off incoming power when an extreme voltage connection occurs, preventing damage and ensuring the overvoltage issue is resolved before power is restored.
